a candle in every corner of the world
i was reading blogs this morning, wondering what topic i was in the mood to submit on mine.. when i started thinking that i would love to hear from Jewish women of different nationalities. indeed, i am wondering if lighting the Shabbat candles in South Africa feels the same as in Holland, Costa Rica or China. so if you've ever lit the Shabbat candles in a different country, or if you regularly light the candles in a foreign country, please do share your experience.

Ladies, a FridayLight candle for a moment of peace… www.fridaylight.org
I just discovered a really cool website, www.fridaylight.org, about Shabbat candle lighting. I’m 26 and I had never lit Shabbat candles before. This website just inspired me. Even though I live a secular life, reciting the Blessing in front of the flame was a true moment for myself, my beloved and in relation to G-d. I never thought that such an easy gesture could bring so much inner peace and serenity.
Besides, performing such a meaningful action helps retrieving the spirituality we often lack in our crazy lives. It’s also an amazing experience to feel connected to millions of women all over the world. I really believe that if more Jewish women light Shabbat candles, we can all bring peace into our homes and into the world at large.
You should check out the website, and who knows, maybe you too will feel inspired!
